McKenzie Health Proudly Welcomes the Birth of Twins in Watford City

We are thrilled to share a historic moment for our community! On November 4th, Iveth Aragon Vasquez and Jorge Rivera Quezada welcomed Liana and Liam, making history as the first set of twins born in McKenzie Health’s Labor and Delivery Unit. This wonderful event is not just a family milestone; it’s a powerful testament to the growth and expert care available right here in Western North Dakota.

Since opening our state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery Unit in December 2022, McKenzie Health has committed to being a full-service community hospital ready for every delivery. The arrival of twins presented a unique opportunity to showcase the expertise of our team. Interim OB Manager Ellen Augustine, RN, affirmed the unit’s commitment to being “prepared to deliver and be able to stabilize.”

Our staff ensured they were ready for this first multiple birth. They conducted in-service trainings and coordinated closely with our respiratory therapists (RTs) and pediatricians. With five dedicated OBGYN providers and two pediatricians on staff, our patients can trust they are receiving the highest level of expert, specialized care close to home.

McKenzie Health is proud to be growing alongside the Western ND community. With over 269 babies born in the unit, we are actively expanding our capacity to ensure every expectant mother has access to quality care. Our commitment also extends through supportive programs, including free monthly prenatal classes and a dedicated lactation consultant. As Iveth Aragon Vasquez noted, “Having twins is a big challenge, but also a double blessing.”
