Groundbreaking Ceremony for $1.3M Expansion & UPgrade to Good Shepherd Home Chapel, Courtyard, and Greenhouse
Watford City, North Dakota
September 22, 2023 – On October 10th at 10 AM CT, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held to celebrate the site that will soon be transformed into expanded chapel space, a beautiful courtyard, and state-of-the art greenhouse for long-term care residents to enjoy. Icon Architects are working to create spaces that are modern, warm, inviting, and accessible. Construction Engineers will begin work this fall and bring the project to completion in June 2024, wrapping up with greenhouse construction. Randy Quale, Benefit Fund of McKenzie Health Board Chairman, said, “The generosity of our community is what makes a project such as this possible. An amazing 191 donors have donated a total of $1.3 million dollars to this very worthy cause. This project will enrich the lives of so many within the Good Shepherd Home.”
The expanded and renovated Chapel space will provide needed updates to equipment and facilities, offering additional options for separating the Activities Room from the Chapel using modern architecture concepts, maximizing space, and providing additional opportunities for faith-based activities. Audio/Visual capabilities will be implemented in the Chapel along with interior lighting upgrades. The adjacent Courtyard will offer a new, reimagined space to include an accessible gazebo for residents to enjoy. To complement an already robust activities program, a Greenhouse will be placed in the Courtyard as well to accommodate guest gardeners and opportunities for residents to grow flowers or enjoy a cup of coffee. Of the new capital additions coming, Pete Edis, CEO of McKenzie Health, said, “I could not be more excited for a project that will enhance the quality of life for such a precious population of seniors and their loved ones.”
The Groundbreaking Ceremony is open to the public. The community is invited to attend to learn more about the project, view renderings, and enjoy refreshments. It will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at 10 AM CT on the west side of the Good Shepherd Home – Watford City. Please join us!
